Bates Nut Farm is offering art classes in the pumpkin patch on September 18 and September 28 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.Participants will have the opportunity to sip, sketch, and color with Prismacolor pencils while relaxing with friends on the farm. The cost of the class is $45 and includes all art supplies, handouts, snacks, and something to sip – wine or sparkling water.
“Sip, Sketch, and Color” is a fun and educational class that teaches how to draw and color with oil-based colored pencils and pen & ink. Students will learn drawing basics for flowers and plants, composition, and color techniques. Finished drawings will be a beautiful botanical rendition of a wildflower or other plant.
The class will be taught by Valley Center resident, Donna Walker. Donna majored in Art and American Indian Studies (AIS) at Palomar College in San Marcos, CA. She is a trail guide for the Elfin Forest where she leads monthly nature walks. She is a freelance illustrator of artifacts and her work is published in scientific journals, archaeological reports and presentations. Donna’s love of nature, archaeology, and art has enabled her to combine them all in an expression of historical and contemporary drawings with special emphasis in archaeological and California’s native plants. Her preferred medium is pen and ink, and Prismacolor (oil-based colored pencils).
Reservations are required, and can be made by contacting Donna at 858-829-5861 or donna.walker05@gmail.com. Class size is limited.
